The August 2026 Tammy Kaye Watercolor Retreat at Rachel's Farm location in Glenalmond, Scotland was in a word, amazing. Tammy is a wonderful teacher and has a personality that makes everyone feel like an integral part of the group and that their talents are limitless regardless of personal style or hours logged painting. The Logiealmond estate on which the retreat was held was absolutely beautiful, and the accommodations were updated and very comfortable. The studio in which our group met to paint overlooked a beautiful pasture full of sheep (but nothing smelled like barnyard animals). There were gorgeous trails for walking/hiking along a little creek/river and I came away with tons of pictures of the scenery. But perhaps the best thing about Rachel's Farm is the outstanding service by our host, Rose, and our private chef, Sandor. Rose made everyone feel not just welcome, but also like you had known her as a friend for years. She was more than helpful in terms of whatever retreat participants needed and took the time to be sure she knew the particular likes and dislikes of each person there without anyone ever feeling like they were a bother. Truly rare in customer service these days. Sandor's meals were sublime. Like Rose, he took care to make sure the dietary likes, dislikes and restrictions for each guest were accommodated, and every single thing we were served was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. Everyone wanted his recipes. I have now been home a week, and I truly miss his meals. Rachel and Andrew, owners of Rachel's Farm, were also wonderful and personally involved in making sure our excursions were fun and that our transfers were on time and accommodated each person's travel schedule, even going out of their way to do so. This could not have been a more pleasant experience overall, and I look forward to attending future retreats at Rachel's Farm properties.

The art retreat was 10 out of 10. The property is beautiful. The food fantastic and staff are delightful. We had the best time, enjoyed several of the hot tubs and very much enjoyed our spacious and lovely room. The only misstep was it was not clearly clear where and where not we could walk, although we utilized the trails and roads multiple times a day. The vacation was a dream.

Hello. The venue was beautiful - absolutely stunning. The chef James made us delightful food every day that we all enjoyed and appreciated. Steve was also very kind and served us with a bright smile every meal time. I would gratefully go back to Rachel's farm - everything was just beautiful! Although the venue and staff were lovely, the actual art experience left me feeling incredibly disappointed. (hence the 3 stars - I would have happily put 5 as far as the venue is concerned) but there was such a lack of learning and structured lessons that I felt that I had spent a lot of money with very little in return as far as gaining knowledge. The teacher did not provide structured lessons and seemed to just wing it. Her comments to the students were more centered around telling us to read her book or look at her Patreon account than actually teaching us. We were also asked to bring a long list of art supplies that we barely touched - money and time for nothing. I am disenchanted.

I had a great time. The farm was peaceful and well appointed. The staff was very accomodating; the food was amazing and the chef effortlessly managed a number of dietary restrictions in our group. I enjoyed the entertainment provided in the evenings. WiFi was intermittent and spotty; fortunately, I was able to reschedule some work (otherwise, it would have been a problem for me).

I attended a watercolour retreat with Tammy Kaye. We were a group of 15 and were assigned to various houses and cottages on the Logiealmond estate. The buildings were all newly rebuilt from historic structures on the estate, beautifully outfitted and tastefully furnished and very comfortable. The grounds of the estate were stunning and allowed for fabulous hikes. There was ample inspiration for painting. The staff were warm and welcoming and ensured everyone’s needs were met. The meals were absolutely delicious, all prepared with local ingredients by an exceptional chef. Our stay was truly magical!
